Lab alumni - Where are they now?

Emily completed dual B.S. degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Neuroscience, and Biology. Emily joined our lab in March 2023. Her project focused on Emily is pursuing dual B.S. degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, and Biology. She joined the lab in March 2023, and is currently working on my honors thesis studying the effects of alcohol on oligodendrocyte lineage in adolescent mice. She is currently a Research Technician at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Jayden completed a degree Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Psychology on the Neuroscience track. Jayden joined the lab in September 2022. His independent project focuses on the effects of adolescent alcohol exposure on myelination of the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. He is currently at Vertava Health. 

Anumeha joined our lab fall 2021. She received degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Psychology on the Neuroscience track in 2023. She is now a Research Associate Scientist II at Scion Innovations.

Cassidy was a PREP Fellow. Her independent project focuses on transgenic tagging and tracking of oligodendroglia for spatial and temporal mapping de novo myelination patterns in the mouse brain. She is now pursuing a Neuroscience PhD at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Barbara received a B.S. in Animal Science in 2023. She joined the lab as an Undergraduate Research Assistant from Fall 2019 to Fall 2023 and in Spring 2023 she developed the skills as a Lab Manager.  She is now a certified nursing assistant planning to pursue a PA Master's degree.

Emily received a B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Spanish in 2022. She volunteered in the lab from Spring 2022 to Fall 2023. She is a student at The Roux Institute and a Psychometrist at Northern Light Neuropsychology, in Bangor, Maine.

Rithika received her B.S. degrees Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Public Health in 2022. She completed her senior honors thesis at the Richardson Lab and investigated how alcohol impacts oligodendrocyte lineage during adolescence in male and female mice.

Saïd joined the lab in January 2018. His project focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying the myelination of corticolimbic circuits during adolescence and how alcohol impacts this developmental process.

Andy received her PhD in Neuroscience and Behavior  in 2022. Her research in the Richardson Lab focused on elucidating the role of sex hormones on the myelination of the prefrontal cortex and amygdala circuits during adolescence. She is currently a Medical Writer and Consultant at Whitsell Innovations, Inc.

Nabil received his BS degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Psychology on the Neuroscience track in the Spring 2023. He first joined the lab in Fall of 2021 to Spring 2022. He will start a Masters in Business Analytics Program in the Fall 2023.

Jillian received her BS degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Psychology on the Neuroscience track. She first joined the lab in fall of 2018 and assisted in the study of the effect of alcohol on microglia morphology.

Sebastian joined the lab as a PREP student in June of 2020 until May 2021.

Michael received his BS degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience. He joined in the Summer of 2018.

Sirisha joined the lab in May of 2018. She received her BS degrees in Psychology on the Neuroscience track and Mathematics. As a research assistant, she studied how alcohol impacts oligodendrocyte lineage during adolescence in male and female mice. She's currently a Clinical Research Assistant at Baystate Health.

Faye received her BS degrees in Biology and Psychology in 2020. She joined the lab in 2018 and she's currently working as Clinical Process Development Associate II at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

Kyle received his BS degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Psychology on the Neuroscience track in 2019. He joined the lab in Fall of 2016 and conducted his honors thesis studying how binge drinking alcohol during adolescence affects the myelination of corticolimbic circuitry in rats.

Sam joined the Richardson Lab in the Spring of 2016. After working as a research assistant, an honors thesis student, and a research technician, he received his Master's in Neuroscience and Behavior in 2019 focusing on studying the effects of binge drinking on myelination in the developing adolescent brain.

Patrick obtained his BS degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. He joined the lab in the Summer of 2018 and helped with individual projects, making reagents and checking equipment.

Liz graduated from UMass with a BS degree in Psychological and Brain Sciences. Then she worked as a Lab Technician for the Richardson lab supervising the undergraduate work and training students on new techniques, while also studying the vulnerabilities of developing nodal domains to alcohol. 

Gabi received her BS degree in Psychology on the Neuroscience track. She joined the Richardson Lab in Fall of 2017 and worked on her honors thesis project studying the nodes of Ranvier in the lab's binge drinking model.

Monica obtained her BS degree in Nutrition on the Health Sciences track. She joined the lab in the Spring of 2017 and assisted on various projects in the lab.

Lynn was the manager for the Richardson lab since 2008. She oversaw activities in the lab and helped with the execution of each project. She retired in the Spring of 2020.

Eileena obtained her BS degree in Biology. She joined the lab in the Spring of 2017.

Aimee completed her Honors Thesis with the lab in 2018. She researched the density and morphology of microglia as an indicator of inflammation in the mPFC of adolescent rats exposed to binge alcohol drinking.

Sarah joined the lab in the fall semester of 2013. She initially started as a work-study staff member but quickly became involved in studies being conducted in the lab. Her independent study focuses on measuring g-ratio within the medial prefrontal cortex.

Sadie started working in the Richardson lab in the summer of 2015. She conducted a baseline study investigating the protein expression of ER-alpha within microglia of the medial prefrontal cortex (PFC).

Wanette received her Ph.D. in the Richardson Lab in the Spring of 2016. We are excited to announce that Wanette recently moved from New England down to the Big Apple, where she has taken a postdoctoral position in the city!

Yi-Ling received her Ph.D. December 2016. She is studying sex differences in neurodegenerative disorders in her postdoctoral position in the Scharfman lab at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research. Congrats to Yi-Ling and Yu-Ting on their new baby, Wylie!

Jesse got his Ph.D. in May 2016 and is now studying behavioral genetics in dogs in the Karlsson laboratory at UMass Med.

Chrisanthi received her masters from the Neuroscience and Behavior program in 2012. She landed a fantastic job at Eli Lilly, where she has been promoted to Senior Associate of Scientific Communications.
